Release Date : Sep 21, 2012 Wide
Genre :Drama
Mpaa Rating : PG-13

Gus Lobel (Clint Eastwood) has been one of the best scouts in baseball for decades, but, despite his efforts to hide it, age is starting to catch up with him. Nevertheless, Gus-who can tell a pitch just by the crack of the bat-refuses to be benched for what may be the final innings of his career. He may not have a choice. The front office of the Atlanta Braves is starting to question his judgment, especially with the country's hottest batting phenom on deck for the draft. The one person who might be able to help is also the one person Gus would never ask: his daughter, Mickey (Amy Adams), an associate at a high-powered Atlanta law firm whose drive and ambition has put her on the fast track to becoming partner. Against her better judgment, and over Gus's objections, Mickey joins him on his latest scouting trip to North Carolina, jeopardizing her own career to save his. -- (C) Warner Bros.

Trouble
Special Review For Movie Trouble with the Curve
Eastwood and Adams do the best they can with the cornball sentimentality and cheesy dialogue, but first-time director Robert Lorenz merely photographs the on- and off-field action. Give it a pass.
Nigel Floyd-Time Out

Lorenz ... lays in everything methodically, fully, but without much invention or energy; you can imagine each plot development ten minutes before it arrives.
David Denby-New Yorker

Eastwood, in his 80s, looks a lot trimmer than some of the performers in this film half his age. He may be the only octogenarian actor who has to play older than his age to be convincing.
Peter Rainer-Christian Science Monitor

Nobody would pay much attention to this plodding but good-hearted film if not for its star, Clint Eastwood, although he's just dialing in the go-to Cantankerous Old Man mode on which he has relied for a decade or so.
Connie Ogle-Miami Herald

This isn't the worst performance Eastwood has given in his 57-year career, but it's his least inspired in about a decade.
James Berardinelli-ReelViews

Trouble With the Curve" is a solid double down the line.
Richard Roeper-Richard Roeper.com

It does so much wrong, and it is so proud of itself for it. But it's too much fun watching these actors have such fun.
Will Leitch-Deadspin

As much as I loved Clint's squinty-eyed punditry at the RNC, his latest pitch for a mitt is - to quote Bob Uecker - just a bit outside.
Al Alexander-The Patriot Ledger

From Clint Eastwood's lovable old coot persona to Amy Adams' iron-willed combativeness, this film is a stunning, beautiful surprise. A sports movie, a romance without sentimentality, and the emotional trauma of a family secret.
Jules Brenner-Cinema Signals

Like the baseball diamond that features so prominently in his film, we all know which base will be dutifully tapped next and that a home-run for the characters is inevitable.
Amber Wilkinson-Eye for Film

Seldom have I seen a movie so adamantly opposed to nuance.
Eric D. Snider-Pajiba

This feels like a fairly disposable entry in Eastwood's filmography, and represents a confident if uninspiring start to Lorenz's directorial career.
Martin Roberts-Fan The Fire

Seemingly written by people who have either never seen a baseball game or haven't followed the sport in years
Stephen Silver-EntertainmentTell

A clichéd motion picture with a couple of rip-snortingly bizarre moments that undermine its own credibility as mainstream, comfortable entertainment.
William Bibbiani-CraveOnline

It's basically Moanyball.
Matt Looker-TheShiznit.co.uk

But if [Clint] ever wants to belatedly challenge for an acting Oscar - as he so nearly did with Gran Torino - then he needs to take the Amour route and really make us feel for the character.
Graham Young-Birmingham Post

Director Robert Lorenz does a proficient, if unremarkable job corralling all the cliches into a pleasing, predictable package...And let's face it: nobody serves out a big, well-deserved dose of comeuppance like Clint. Even without a gun.
Jim Schembri-3AW

A classy old school character drama that dips into sentimentality in its final stages, but remains first-rate in every other aspect.
Erin Free-FILMINK (Australia)

A frustrating yet heart-warming film that misses the mark due to a predictable and dated script, not to mention the poor performances from the supporting cast.
Yasmin Vought-MovieFIX

The narrative feels almost intentionally hokey and diagrammatic, a framework that gives the actors freedom to display their best-known qualities.
Jake Wilson-The Age (Australia)

Hopefully, this decent but uncomplicated movie isn't a final acting hurrah for Clint Eastwood.
Craig Mathieson-The Sunday Age

I was a bit underwhelmed by this, I must say.
Margaret Pomeranz-At the Movies (Australia)

Well, I have got nothing against a bit of ludditeism. You know I'm a big fan of Clint Eastwood.
David Stratton-At the Movies (Australia)

Watching this film (agonisingly protracted at almost two hours) is a little like spending time with an curmudgeonly uncle you hate visiting.
Shane Danielsen-sbs.com.au

For what it is, it no doubt succeeds. It's just that Eastwood usually strives for something more.
John J. Puccio-Movie Metropolis

Randy Brown's script is a luddite fantasy that has Eastwood grumbling and telling technology to get off his baseball diamond...
Blake Howard-2UE That Movie Show

New Trailer For The Power Of Few

The
Special Review For Movie The Power Of Few
The picture... can't be said to break any new ground in the gritty, mean-streets genre. But it has a better-than-average cast and a few clever plot twists, and it ends up being an occasionally amusing time-killer.
Stephen Farber-Hollywood Reporter

A ham-fisted, timeline-altering variety pack of crime set in New Orleans.
Robert Abele-Los Angeles Times

The Power of Few still feels very "independent" and, more importantly, original. Even if its cast is filled with well-known actors, the film embraces risky, unconventional storytelling.
J.C. Maçek III-PopMatters

I had never heard of screenwriter/director Leone Marucci before. But you can bet I will remember his name after seeing 'The Power of Few.'
Linda Cook-Quad City Times (Davenport, IA)

A jumbled, offbeat mash-up of conspiracy-tinged action and armchair philosophizing that is hamstrung by a strange combination of slapdash plotting and its own self-importance.
Brent Simon-Shared Darkness

It's got a nice message and a strong cast, but both end up getting lost in the muddled storytelling.
Mike Scott-Times-Picayune

The film's tightly scripted hours in New Orleans wield their way to a destination that's worth the time spent getting there.
John Wirt-Advocate (Baton Rouge, LA)

New Trailer For Delivery Man

Delivery
Special Review For Movie Delivery Man
Delivery Man can be pegged as yet another in a seemingly endless series of Apatow-era man-child redemption stories ...
Adam Nayman-Globe and Mail

"Starbuck" was a funny and warm-hearted trifle. So is "Delivery Man."
Michael O'Sullivan-Washington Post

Vaughn never quite convinces as the perpetual slacker in this blue-collar family (he doesn't even look like he's from the same gene pool) and too many of the characters feel puppeteered into place; you can see all the strings.
Stephen Whitty-Newark Star-Ledger

Delivery Man, with its democratic band of half-siblings and its feel-good view of humankind, is what it is: a reproductive remake that will make you laugh. More than once or twice.
Steven Rea-Philadelphia Inquirer

It's all far-fetched, silly and light. But then it's supposed to be.
Tom Long-Detroit News

"Delivery Man" is nowhere near the worst film of 2013, but it is definitely the most exhausting.
Peter Hartlaub-San Francisco Chronicle

Even noting the toned-down performance of Vaughn and the film's overall amiability, there are some creepy and unexplored issues lurking in the margins of this story that can't be brushed away.
Marjorie Baumgarten-Austin Chronicle

"Delivery Man" is just a tick away from being a typical Vince Vaughn movie. But, surprisingly, there's just enough charm in this film about the joys of fatherhood to make it an entertaining exception to my Vince Vaughn rule.
Paul Chambers-Movie Chambers

The flat, scrubbed-looking film barely does anything with this premise.
Jeffrey M. Anderson-Combustible Celluloid

...slight but feel-good entertainment. It probably should have gone right to Lifetime in the first place...
Daniel M. Kimmel-New England Movies Weekly

It's not that the movie is totally terrible, it's just incredibly misguided.
Bill Gibron-PopMatters

Nothing quite seems to fit, as if the movie's been assembled from bits and pieces of other movies.
Bilge Ebiri-Vulture

While it admittedly has some funny, nice and even touching moments, there's just something that often feels off about the overall offering as a whole. (Full Content Review for Parents also available)
Jim Judy-Screen It!

Ken Scott's uneven story suffers through its narrative stumbles, but it overcomes its flaws thanks to an embraceable dose of heart and the loveable-lump charisma of Vaughn.
Mike Scott-Times-Picayune

We speed from one story to the other to the other like a fat guy at a Chinese buffet. We should be savoring some of this, instead of trying to cram it all in.
Willie Waffle-WaffleMovies.com

Vince Vaughn can be a ray of sunshine in even the worst movies (see "Be Cool" for the best example of this). Here, I just didn't buy him as a loveable sad-sack.
Odie Henderson-RogerEbert.com

An awe-inspiring achievement: a movie that is 100% disconnected from reality, without a single plausible moment or believable character.
Eric D. Snider-EricDSnider.com

Delivery Man isn't technically a shot-for-shot remake, but the movie is one in spirit.
Mark Dujsik-Mark Reviews Movies

Vince Vaughn does what he can to shine in Ken Scott's Delivery Man, but the film's lack of heart and soul is too much to overcome.

The
Special Review For Movie The Hole
No one understands that giddy rush of sugar buzz cinema better than director Joe Dante.
Mark Olsen-Los Angeles Times

It's good to welcome back one of the undisputed masters of modern genre cinema -- and adventurous kids will love it.
Tom Huddleston-Time Out

Cool it may be, but scary (or even mildly shudder-inducing) it ain't.
Derek Elley-Variety

The Hole doesn't have the frantic wit of Dante's Gremlins 2 or the political import of his Small Soldiers, but it has something just as satisfying: a thorough understanding of the psychological underpinnings of the genre.
Dave Kehr-Film Comment Magazine

On the surface, Dante's movies are juvenile horrors with some movie-savvy comedy thrown in, but underneath they're among the most subversive entertainments being made today. Hopefully future generations will discover this silly, smart gem.
Jeffrey M. Anderson-Combustible Celluloid

Sadly, the picture is just too mild for its own good.
Jeremy Wheeler-TV Guide's Movie Guide

Curb your expectations and know you're going into a film about how curious children overcome their fears, not how malevolent darkness torments a group of unsuspecting "victims."
Matt Donato-We Got This Covered

A refreshing example of how to make a film for a specific demographic the right way. ... Smart, scary and fun as hell.
William Bibbiani-CraveOnline

Entertaining, with a welcome sense of mischief, The Hole plays to Dante's strengths, returning him to a suburban battleground where young characters face off against an unstoppable, often knee-high malevolent force.
Brian Orndorf-Blu-ray.com

Catch THE HOLE in 3-D if you can, but watch it with your kids during this approaching Halloween. You might remember a time when horror was fun and creepy and less violent and exploitative.
Jonathan W. Hickman-Daily Film Fix

Now that it's finally here, it proves a sight better than its direct-to-video credentials suggest.
Rob Vaux-Mania.com

All the elements are here, they just don't add up to a satisfying whole.
Nathan Rabin-AV Club

If you enjoyed recent scary-but-kid-safe thrillers like Don't Be Afraid of the Dark or Super 8 - albeit toned down for pre-teens - then The Hole is definitely worth a peek.
Staci Layne Wilson-Horror.com

A fun kids horror film that may be a minor work for Dante, but still very satisfying.
Thomas Caldwell-Cinema Autopsy

Will be instantly recognizable to anyone who grew up watching movies in the 1980s!
James O'Ehley-Sci-Fi Movie Page

This is scary, thrilling stuff, especially considering there's very little actual violence or gore.
-Film4

The return of director Joe Dante would be more welcome if his children's horror-thriller weren't so tepid.
Derek Malcolm-This is London

Director Dante knows a thing or two about making teen thrillers, and this film gets the atmosphere just right without indulging in cheap movie gimmicks.
Rich Cline-Shadows on the Wall

Scarier than any of this year's 18-rated horror crop.
Robbie Collin-News of the World

Scary fun for young teens.
Allan Hunter-Daily Express

With the 1980s increasingly looking like a golden age for live-action family blockbusters, Joe Dante, the decade's most subversive practitioner of the form, makes a welcome return...
Alistair Harkness-Scotsman

Dante delivers some terrific spine-tingling chills on the way towards a disappointingly overblown climax.
Marc Lee-Daily Telegraph

Premium
Special Review For Movie Premium Rush
Just a few spokes short of a wheel, guys.
Keith Uhlich-Time Out New York

An unpretentious throwback to the kind of action movie that had no need of superheroes, Premium Rush is hardly a classic but fun up to a point.
Tom Charity-CNN.com

Premium Rush is that rare bird: a chase picture that's just a chase picture - and a dandy one.
David Edelstein-New York Magazine

A blast.
Cath Clarke-Time Out

The whole film sizzles with urban aggression.
Bruce Diones-New Yorker

Premium Rush isn't mindless mayhem, a thriller for teenage boys bursting with hormonal bloodlust. Koepp's film has a brain...
Kathleen Murphy-MSN Movies

Satisfying on a basic, fun level, but also stylishly produced and not insulting to the viewer's intelligence.
Eric D. Snider-EricDSnider.com

The movie, idiotic as it is, has its charms, thanks in large part to its two main actors.
Will Leitch-Deadspin

Gordon-Levitt proves he's the best actor on two wheels, pedaling furiously to save a grueling ride from becoming more tiresome.
Al Alexander-The Patriot Ledger

Joseph Gordon-Levitt' fixed-wheel bike has a single gear and no brakes, and you could say the same of director David Koepp's film, which is light on character and plot. But, even on two wheels, the action is fast and furious.
Jason Best-Movie Talk

Want more from a late-summer joyride than slides, wheelies and bunny hops? Get a load of Shannon, dementedly inspired, trying out an oddball accent and Richard Widmark giggle.
A.A. Dowd-Time Out Chicago

Gordon-Levitt is, as usual, a likeable hero, though he's underused in a film that's plainly more interested in kinetics than drama.
John Hazelton-Screen International

A fun chase film starring the likable Joseph Gordon-Levitt, with a deliciously over-the-top performance by Michael Shannon as a villainous crooked cop, and some X Games-worthy bike stunts.
Kirk Baird-Toledo Blade

The kind of low-expectation late-summer film that can all too often fall under the radar but delivers more honestly and forcefully than most of its warm-weather predecessors.
Rob Gonsalves-eFilmCritic.com

I expected "Premium Rush" would be an exciting film, but I didn't think it would be so much fun to watch. It has plenty of thrills, laughs and a plot that is more complicated and interesting than I thought it would be.
Robert Roten-Laramie Movie Scope

Maybe the plot's a little thin, but this is end of summer escapism at its best and it guarantees you'll never look at a biker in NYC the same way again.
Bruce Bennett-Spectrum (St. George, Utah)

Eye-popping practical bike work should provide interested viewers with a middle-of-the-road rush that's a bit short of 'premium.'
Ben Kendrick-ScreenRant

... a lightning-paced, hyper-adrenalized entertainment.
Jim Lane-Sacramento News & Review

There is also a romance and scenes of what may or may not be human trafficking but unless the action is happening on the back of a Schwinn it pretty much is only hinted at on screen.
Michael A. Smith-MediaMikes

Even though we see more of New York at street level than you'd ever expect in one thriller, this film is hit by one puncture after another.
Graham Young-Birmingham Post

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is an immensely likable hero and the stunt work is astonishing.
Philip French-Observer [UK]

This is about the bike, the road and the compulsion to go, go, go.
Henry Barnes-Guardian [UK]

The film is one snappy, fast-paced chase through the streets of Manhattan. Never mind the logic, feel the breeze.

Iron
Special Review For Movie Iron Sky
Great idea, lousy execution: "Iron Sky" boasts one of the zaniest premises in recent memory, and somehow manages to squander most of its potential.
Jeff Shannon-Seattle Times

In space, no one can hear you laugh either.
William Goss-Film.com

'Iron Sky' just proves that even the dumbest idea needs a smart mind behind it.
Tom Huddleston-Time Out

It's Nazis from space. Cult movie fans will basically know what to expect. It's just a shame it couldn't have been a bit better.
Catherine Bray-Film4

To its credit, while routinely stupid, it is playfully so - and it gets over the line through sheer force of charm. A "triumph of the will", if you catch our drift. (Sorry.)
Patrick Kolan-Shotgun Critic

Shock horror: hilariously terrible-sounding movie ends up being nowhere near as fun as you might hope. This does not bode well for my time-travelling monkey idea.
Matt Looker-TheShiznit.co.uk

The film hasn't the budget to match its dizzying concept, nor the wit to fill the gaps between.
Matt Glasby-Flicks.co.nz

Despite some ill-advised turns of tonality, Iron Sky remains intriguing, submitting a lively sci-fi vision with a pronounced historical playfulness, keeping the feature eager to please and out to awe.
Brian Orndorf-Blu-ray.com

History tells us that you can't fake trash classics and you can't manufacture a cult.
Tara Brady-Irish Times

The jokes are spasmodic, as satirically weightless as playing golf on the moon.
Philip French-Observer [UK]

Re-watch the teaser trailer, skip the final production.
Sam Bathe-Fan The Fire

A space-ploitation brain fart.
Ed Whitfield-The Ooh Tray

Nazis on the moon! What could be more brilliantly bonkers than the lunatic premise of satirical sci-fi action comedy Iron Sky? Sadly, Finnish director Timo Vuorensola fails to make the most of his conceit.
Jason Best-Movie Talk

The space battle scenes are impressive, Julia Dietze is sexy and demure as the Nazi schoolteacher sent to Earth and there are genuinely funny moments.
Mark Adams-Daily Mirror [UK]

Lowballing schlock and nothing more.
David Jenkins-Little White Lies

Stylishly made with some terrific effects, Iron Sky also draws on everything from Star Wars to Dr Strangelove, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and a Sarah Palin-style US President in Stephanie Paul...
Graham Young-Birmingham Post

It's Nazis from space. Cult movie fans will basically know what to expect. It's just a shame it couldn't have been a bit better.
-Film4

Madchens in tight blouses, space travelling stormtroopers, - was ist not to like?
Tim Evans-Sky Movies

Completely fails to deliver on its basic premise and is ultimately disappointing, thanks to a lazy script, poor performances and ham-fisted direction.
Matthew Turner-ViewLondon

Balls, that core factor found in the best political satires, is what Iron Sky is lacking.
Matthew Pejkovic-Matt's Movie Reviews

Let's face it: it's Nazis from the Moon invading Earth in flying saucers, if you're expecting anything other than abject absurdity, you're in the wrong movie.
Tim Martain-The Mercury

Marginally more inspired and certainly more likable than Snakes on a Plane or The Human Centipede as net-spawned exploitation fodder goes, but you can safely wait for the DVD.

The
Special Review For Movie The Awakening
Though the story spirals a little out of control in the film's final scenes, "The Awakening" offers the low-key pleasures of an old-fashioned thriller and a lovely central performance.
Moira MacDonald-Seattle Times

Whatever.
Roger Ebert-Chicago Sun-Times

The cast is anchored by two wonderful actresses: Imelda Staunton and Rebecca Hall, whose talents are squandered on this lackluster horror drama.
Claudia Puig-USA Today

When these sudden surprises work, as in "A Beautiful Mind" or "The Others," you're too stunned to swallow that next handful of popcorn; when they don't, you're tempted to throw your whole box at the screen.
Stephen Whitty-Newark Star-Ledger

A dull British import that never lives up to the pretensions of its period setting.
Chris Berube-Globe and Mail

An enjoyably old-fashioned ghost story in the vein of "The Others" and "The Orphanage."
Sara Stewart-New York Post

a ghost story that wants to be more than just a ghost story, but in the process of trying to be a movie that transcends a genre, it insults the genre
Kevin Carr-7M Pictures

The Awakening glides ghost-like through its story, laying its own elaborate traps along the way.
Kristal Cooper-We Got This Covered

The Awakening is a handsome, well-acted thriller with a script that's never cringe-inducing. So why did it sneak its way onto home video with no fanfare?
