New Trailer For Planes

Planes
Special Review For Movie Planes
An endearing enough David-and-Goliath tale, aimed squarely at younger kids.
Dave Calhoun-Time Out

A visually colorful but otherwise vanilla continuation of the series.
William Goss-Film.com

Strictly by the numbers, from the believe-in-yourself moral to the purely predictable ending.
Stephen Whitty-Newark Star-Ledger

Has the look and feel of Pixar's 2006 hit, "Cars," if not the latter's charm or strong story.
Tom Keogh-Seattle Times

"Planes" is for the most part content to imitate rather than innovate, presumably hoping to reap a respectable fraction of the box office numbers of "Cars" and "Cars 2," which together made hundreds of millions of dollars.
Neil Genzlinger-New York Times

As with "Cars," the world of "Planes" feels safe. A little too safe, perhaps.
Betsy Sharkey-Los Angeles Times

Planes is nothing more than Disney cashing in on a successful franchise while the market is hot.
Robert Kojder-What Culture

Beautifully (duh!) and expensively (duh squared!) animated, this has its charms, but ultimately gets a little yawn-worthy, with too many characters, too much going on and too many unanswered questions.
David 'Mad Dog' Bradley-Rip It Up

Think Cars, but with planes. Passable, pleasant, mildly fun and apparently written by computer.
Jim Schembri-3AW

The schmaltzy resolution may work for the undemanding, but given how much fabulous work has gone into the film, it's a shame the result isn't a more complete success
Andrew L. Urban-Urban Cinefile

Reach for the stars is the theme of this Disney 3D animation and while it's cute in part, it lacks the throttle of Pixar's Cars franchise
Louise Keller-Urban Cinefile

At the end of "Planes," you may wonder why it wasn't released straight to DVD, which is how I'd bet the promised sequel "Planes: Fire & Rescue" will be seen.
Sean Means-Salt Lake Tribune

The globe-hopping story may keep young viewers diverted, but with the destination so clearly mapped out from the start, grown-ups will find the film something of a long haul.
Jason Best-Movie Talk

Plays like the cheap DisneyToons small screen cash-in effort it clearly was conceived and always meant to be.
Michael Dequina-TheMovieReport.com

In the skies, as on tarmac, this remains the world's most fossil-fuel-friendly franchise.
Tara Brady-Irish Times

Visually, "Planes" aircraft characters owe a huge debt to cartoonist Hank Caruso, who's been doing this stuff for decades ... As a movie, "Planes" is pretty meh.
Burl Burlingame-Honolulu Star-Advertiser

Flimsy - weighted down with an air of familiarity
Susan Granger-SSG Syndicate

Disney's new yarn about a little underdog airplane with big dreams feels like the studio just strapped some wings on another movie---'Cars.'
Neil Pond-American Profile

A forgettable, though not dislikable, affair.
Philip French-Observer [UK]

Many youngsters in a packed charity screening I attended were fidgeting and talking.
Graham Young-Birmingham Mail

That Planes couldn't even manage to improve upon Cars 2 is downright heartbreaking.
Tim Brayton-Antagony & Ecstasy

Too much of the same old same old here at the end of summer; the plot of this one is too similar to "Turbo" which got there first.
Jackie K. Cooper-jackiekcooper.com

For "international", read "packed with wince-worthy ethnic stereotyping" - it's the only way the writers know how to define character in a universe this soulless.
Guy Lodge-This is London

The story is routine and the animation rarely inspired, which makes it feel as if nobody cared enough to make the film soar.
Allan Hunter-Daily Express

Disney takes over Pixar's "World of Cars" with this spin-off that no-one really asked for. Indeed, this is an essentially disposable adventure, smiley and formulaic with a few minor thrills and a gentle sense of humour.
Rich Cline-Contactmusic.com

It may not soar as high as its Pixar counterparts, but Disney's 'Planes'[ takes off nicely as a good-natured addition to 'The World of Cars.'
Linda Cook-Quad City Times (Davenport, IA)

About
Special Review For Movie About Cherry
Dramas about the porn industry range from expressions of puritanical rage to celebrations of open sexuality; this one manages to avoid both extremes, as well as anything else that might make it worth watching.
J. R. Jones-Chicago Reader

Here is a movie that suggests prostitution is something that just sort of happens to you, like Lyme disease.
Roger Ebert-Chicago Sun-Times

This is just a slow-moving skin flick broken up by lots of boring discussions about Cherry's future.
Kyle Smith-New York Post

The fatal flaw ... is its refusal to examine Angelina's occupation from outside the bubble. You might even call it a recruitment film.
Stephen Holden-New York Times

Everything here is done badly.
Joe Neumaier-New York Daily News

It's pornography bathed in the tangerine glow of fruit-scented candlelight.
Rex Reed-New York Observer

When a guilty perv is all a film has to offer by way of a protagonist then it's probably in the best interests of us all if it doesn't exist.
Sophie Monks Kaufman-Little White Lies

almost laughably unsexy
Richard Knight-Knight at the Movies

Rather shockingly lacking in dynamic plotting, the film descends into mystifying incomprehensibility in its final reels, showing a lack of understanding of basic human motivations.
Brent Simon-Shared Darkness

So much of About Cherry is meant to titillate and dramatize but never humanize.
Brian Tallerico-HollywoodChicago.com

Generates a sensual world existing on top of the real one, where many people work non-ideal jobs simply to pay the bills.
Matt Pais-RedEye

Flimsy and fetishized, it delivers little more than a hackneyed skin flick.
Susan Granger-SSG Syndicate

Mediocre drama centered a young woman's introduction to the porn industry.
David Noh-Film Journal International

Despite Hinshaw's audacious performance, the characters remain at an emotional distance.
Todd Jorgenson-Cinemalogue.com

A muddled, inconsequential journey of a surprisingly unsympathetic character and her hazy ride to the top of the porno food chain.
Brian Orndorf-Blu-ray.com

It has a didactic undercurrent, making its main character into a beautiful blank, ready to blossom under the bright camera lights and to be unabashed in the face of the unenlightened.
Alison Willmore-AV Club

The lack of plausible conflict mars the movie's highly commendable depiction of San Francisco as a the new porn capital.
Joseph Jon Lanthier-Slant Magazine

Pollyanna does 'Frisco!

New Trailer For Unconditional

Unconditional
Special Review For Movie Unconditional
A faith-based drama about redemption and renewal that is blessed with the saving graces of persuasive performances, handsome production values and some undeniably affecting moments of spiritual uplift.
Joe Leydon-Variety

This inspirational drama, while trafficking in cliches, manages not to deliver its message too heavily.
Frank Scheck-Hollywood Reporter

Contrived and simplistic.
Mark Jenkins-Washington Post

Unconditional is a little movie with a big heart, a message film that doesn't taste like medicine.
David Martindale-Dallas Morning News

If only McCorkle had a bit more, er, faith in his audience.
Gary Goldstein-Los Angeles Times

A strong story (based on true facts)and an endearing cast make this a good movie experience.
Jackie K. Cooper-jackiekcooper.com

While strongly acted by stars Lynn Collins and Michael Ealy, it's a clumsy picture that feels like it's going to add up to more than it actually does.
Brian Orndorf-Blu-ray.com

While the script is a bit thin and the murder mystery overlay feels a bit forced, Unconditional is a gentle and sincere movie about the power and potential of love. And Papa Joe is a character worth getting to know.
Philip Martin-Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

In a year where what divides us seems to get more attention than what unites us, it's enough to restore your, well, faith.

Venus
Special Review For Movie Venus And Serena
An amiable enough overview, with the occasional 'say what?' moment.
Catherine Bray-Time Out

Does the film pull back the curtain on who they are and what drives them? Not so much.
Loren King-Boston Globe

How much new does Venus and Serena have to tell us? Not enough.
Dan DeLuca-Philadelphia Inquirer

An engaging, warts-and-all look at the Williams sisters.
Alissa Simon-Variety

The film works better as a thrilling but superficial celebration of two incredible athletes instead of a personal portrait of two world-famous women who continue to make sports history.
Rene Rodriguez-Miami Herald

Fans probably won't learn much they don't already know, but the film covers enough ground to feel like the movie equivalent of one of those lengthy, in-depth articles you used to get in the magazine of your Sunday newspaper.
Alonso Duralde-The Wrap

They've made the sport more interesting, both as black athletes and as women...we left Venus and Serena inspired us to get out in the sun and get moving. And call our siblings.
Kimber Myers-The Playlist

It doesn't quite get inside their heads, but it's brimming with vigour - rather like the girls themselves.
Steve O'Brien-Total Film

They're perfect American drama queens. All that's missing is a last act.
Charlotte O'Sullivan-This is London

The sisters themselves reveal a little, mostly because of Serena's unguarded imperiousness; but as a study of sports supercelebrity it's a tad subdued.
Andrew Pulver-Guardian [UK]

It might allow further appreciation of their accomplishments, but the one-sided approach too easily glosses over the more controversial aspects of their lives.
Todd Jorgenson-Cinemalogue.com

Revealing biopic examines roots and rise of world-class Williams sisters.
Kam Williams-AALBC.com

Less hagiography than a movie about an unusual, fascinating bond between sisters.
Robert Levin-amNewYork

Documentary about the phenomenal tennis stars Venus and Serena Williams sees them as women as well as phenomenon.

New Trailer For 6 Souls

6
Special Review For Movie 6 Souls
Psychology-themed horror tale goes a little nutty in the end.
John DeFore-Hollywood Reporter

Beginning as a psychiatric freak show, "6 Souls" eventually trades serial-killer intimations for backwoods bad mojo before becoming just another dimly lighted pop-up-stalker flick.
Nicolas Rapold-New York Times

A preposterous supernatural thriller that inexplicably managed to sign up Julianne Moore to star.
Kyle Smith-New York Post

"6 Souls" is regrettably sick with that familiar disease afflicting movies of this ilk: ostentatious, hollow moodiness that spreads like an unwelcome rash.
Robert Abele-Los Angeles Times

What unholy spirit could have possessed Julianne Moore when she signed on for the sort of throwaway horror flick that would normally star unknowns and go straight to DVD?
Elizabeth Weitzman-New York Daily News

The end credits, which seem almost as long as the movie itself, dementedly thank everyone from the citizens of Pennsylvania to William Wyler, Howard Hawks and God. What an insult.
Rex Reed-New York Observer

6 Souls is as boring as they come. It's a horror mystery with not a single second of suspense and a batch of uninteresting and naturally boring performances.
Jeremy Lebens-We Got This Covered

Julianne Moore cashes in a small segment of her reputation in the starring role of this overwrought psychological thriller.
Todd Jorgenson-Cinemalogue.com

If not for the presence of the extraordinary Moore, it wouldn't be worthy of any attention at all.
Jeffrey M. Anderson-Common Sense Media

A wretchedly unwatchable train wreck of a film that sorely misuses its talented cast.
Christopher Lloyd-Sarasota Herald-Tribune

(T)here is a nice sense of dread here, a level of suspense that slowly dissipates as the movie meanders toward the exhausting end of its one hour and forty five minute run time.
Bill Gibron-PopMatters

Convention-straddled to a significant fault, 6 Souls is however notable for its performances and for sticking to its creepy, contained formula, far more at least than most recent horror films.
Simon Brookfield-We Got This Covered

The film belongs to a long tradition of horror films that offensively suggest that all atheists might as well hang a Welcome sign up for the devil.
Chuck Bowen-Slant Magazine

Tired and cliche ridden, yet watchable due to its stars Julianne Moore and Jonathan Rhys-Meyers.
Staci Layne Wilson-Inside Horror

A psychological thriller/cum horror tale about a dangerous fellow with three personalities, a movie that proves Robert Louis Stevenson right: two are fine, more's a crowd.
Harvey S. Karten-Compuserve

The conflicting speeds of the feature create chaos, derailing a familiar but promising junk food thriller, which tries much too hard to keep the viewer off the scent of a mystery they will likely show limited interest in to begin with.
Brian Orndorf-BrianOrndorf.com

All too often [the film] borrows from the ideas and conventions of the pysch-horror without giving either them, or the audience, enough respect for it to work.
Mayer Nissim-Digital Spy

As it is, it's an adequate Saturday night scare, but little more.

Movie Title : Stories We Tell
Release Date : May 10, 2013 Limited
Genre :Documentary,Drama,Art House & International,Special Interest
Mpaa Rating : PG-13

In this inspired, genre-twisting new film, Oscar (R)-nominated writer/director Sarah Polley discovers that the truth depends on who's telling it. Polley is both filmmaker and detective as she investigates the secrets kept by a family of storytellers. She playfully interviews and interrogates a cast of characters of varying reliability, eliciting refreshingly candid, yet mostly contradictory, answers to the same questions. As each relates their version of the family mythology, present-day recollections shift into nostalgia-tinged glimpses of their mother, who departed too soon, leaving a trail of unanswered questions. Polley unravels the paradoxes to reveal the essence of family: always complicated, warmly messy and fiercely loving. Stories We Tell explores the elusive nature of truth and memory, but at its core is a deeply personal film about how our narratives shape and define us as individuals and families, all interconnecting to paint a profound, funny and poignant picture of the larger human story. Stories
Special Review For Movie Stories We Tell
Everyone has a different story. I found myself holding my breath listening to them talk. The story twists like a thriller.
Cath Clarke-Time Out

Stories We Tell is not just very moving; it is an exploration of truth and fiction that will stay with you long after repeated viewings.
David Thomson-The New Republic

Part of the movie's pleasure is how comfortable the "storytellers" are with their director; you get a sense of a complicated but tight-knit family, going along with Sarah's project because they love her.
Moira MacDonald-Seattle Times

What a great movie.
Bill Goodykoontz-Arizona Republic

Never sentimental, never cold and never completely sure of anything, Polley comes across as a woman caught in wonder.
Tom Long-Detroit News

After you see it, you'll be practically exploding with questions - and with awe.
Steven Rea-Philadelphia Inquirer

To her credit, Polley never attempts to deflect the painful truths that she unearths, leaving them raw and open for us to experience right along with her.
Travis Hopson-Examiner.com

This is a hard-to-classify and very personal doco, a study of the stories families tell each other and the stories we tell ourselves, regardless of whether either are in any way 'true'.
David 'Mad Dog' Bradley-Rip It Up

Canadian actress/director Sarah Polley (Away from Her; Take This Waltz) presents an absorbing family history that is so ingeniously mounted it doubles as a wry commentary on the documentary form, examining our willingness to believe what we see.
Jim Schembri-3AW

Just when you think you know where it's heading and what it's emphasising... the film unexpectedly changes direction. It's so beautifully done.
Matthew Toomey-ABC Radio Brisbane

An extraordinary work that is both an intellectual examination into the nature of how cinema represents reality as well as a deeply moving personal project.
Thomas Caldwell-Cinema Autopsy

There are many moments when I was moved to tears - when raw truths involving emotions, are delivered by family members in spontaneous, unrehearsed fashion. Polley has crafted a rare jewel of a film that reveals much about her own family
Louise Keller-Urban Cinefile

What is not in doubt is the raw emotion in this work - from Polley quivering with nervous energy as she watches her father read some of the more revelatory pieces of script - to the impact airing the family's dirty linen in public has on her siblings.
Amber Wilkinson-Eye for Film

Fascinating personal documentary.
Dennis Schwartz-Ozus' World Movie Reviews

Slowly but surely Polley pieces together her own family's history to create a kind of cinematic narrative - complete with a twist straight from a soap opera.
Graham Young-Birmingham Mail

An unconventional but wonderfully assembled exploration of how -- and why -- we tell stories, all wrapped in a closely guarded family secret.
Mike Scott-Times-Picayune

Polley is savvy, using her talent as a director -- as a storyteller -- to give it universal appeal even though it's a very specific account.
Eric D. Snider-About.com

Perhaps the most organic, transformative meeting of form and function I've seen this year.
Charlie Lyne-Ultra Culture

Stories We Tell is cinema cutting to the profound truth of why we use narrative to make sense of the world.
Blake Howard-2UE That Movie Show

For the most part, Polley's thoughts and feelings are pretty much absent, but the film makes some nice observations about memory and how it affects - yup - the stories we tell.
Stephen Carty-Flix Capacitor

The movie isn't really about the Polley family: It's about memory, and loss, and forgiveness, and, through it all, hope. It'll knock you over.
Will Leitch-Deadspin

What emerges is a fascinating and illuminating story, one that runs the gamut from intense joy to deep sadness and features a couple of surprising twists that take proceedings off in strange and unusual directions.
Alistair Harkness-Scotsman

An honest and authentic documentary that powerfully explores the filmmaker's own family.
John Hanlon-John Hanlon Reviews

Polley's portrait of modern family life is a playfully profound discussion of narrative forms - the way in which we each construct our own reality through stories, part truth, part invention.
Mark Kermode-Observer [UK]

A decent piece of work, but too fussy for its own good.
Donald Clarke-Irish Times

Polley approaches every character with compassion, intent upon blessing them, and serving the audience with useful questions about how we seek the truth.
Jeffrey Overstreet-Response
